How to schedule Bluesky posts

Bluesky is the easiest of the big networks to automate, and almost nobody says so. There is no app review to wait for and no business account to create: you generate an app password in your own settings and you are done. Here is the whole process, and the limits worth knowing before you write.
Why Bluesky is the easy one
On Instagram or TikTok, a scheduling tool has to be reviewed and approved by the platform before it can publish for you, which is why connecting those accounts can involve waiting on somebody else. Bluesky works on an open protocol: you create an app password, hand it to the tool, and it posts as you.
An app password is not your real password. It is a separate revocable key — you can create several, and deleting one cuts that tool off without touching your account or your login anywhere else. Never give a scheduler your actual Bluesky password; if one asks for it, that is your answer about that scheduler.
Schedule your first Bluesky post
- Create an app password In the Bluesky app or on bsky.app, open Settings → Privacy & Security → App Passwords, add one, and give it a name you will recognise later. It appears once, in four blocks like xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx — copy it now.
- Connect your handle On the Platforms page, choose Bluesky and enter your handle (you.bsky.social, or your own domain if you use one) together with the app password. That is the entire connection — no redirect, no review, no waiting.
- Write the post Write your description and attach up to 4 images. Keep the text within 300 characters — Bluesky's limit, not ours — and each image under 1000 KB, which is where most oversized phone screenshots fall over.
- Pick the time Choose when it should go out. If the same post is also going to other networks, you can give each one its own time — Bluesky at 8am with your morning crowd, YouTube at 9pm — from the same composer.
- Leave it alone The post publishes on its own. If Bluesky is briefly unreachable it retries, and a separate watchdog sweeps for anything overdue, so a network hiccup at 8am does not silently cost you the post.
The limits, in plain numbers
The video line is a real gap rather than a "coming soon", so it is on the page: our Bluesky publishing covers text and images, and a video post is refused up front with that reason instead of failing at 8am. Every other network we support takes video.

Doing it without a tool
You do not need software to post on Bluesky at a particular time — you need to be awake. Write the post in a notes app, set a phone alarm, paste it in. For a couple of posts a week that genuinely works, and it costs nothing.
What it does not survive is volume or travel. Scheduling is worth it once you are posting most days, once the good times are inconvenient ones, or once Bluesky is one of several networks and you would rather write a week in one sitting than open five apps every morning.
Questions people ask
Does Bluesky allow scheduling tools?
Yes. Bluesky is built on an open protocol and app passwords exist precisely so other software can act for you. Unlike Instagram or TikTok there is no review process to pass first.
Is it safe to give a scheduler an app password?
Safer than the alternative, which is your real password. An app password is a separate key you can revoke at any time from the same settings screen, and it does not let anything change your password or your email. Ours is stored encrypted.
Can I schedule Bluesky threads?
Not yet — a scheduled post is a single post. Post the first part on schedule and add the rest as replies in the Bluesky app, which is also where threads read best.
Can I schedule video to Bluesky?
Not through us yet — Bluesky publishing here covers text and up to four images, and a video post is refused when you schedule it rather than failing later. Video works on every other network we support.
What does it cost to schedule Bluesky posts?
The free plan schedules 10 posts a month with no card, which is enough to try it properly. Paid plans are one flat price for all eight networks — $19/mo Creator, $49/mo Pro — rather than a fee per connected account.
